The community where IC pros
find their people
ICology is the go-to community for internal communication professionals looking for connection, inspiration, and practical support. Built by and for communicators, we're here to help you grow your skills, expand your network, and feel less alone in your work.
Fun fact: ICology came from a mistyped Google search for "ecology" — the study of how organisms relate to one another and their surroundings. Turns out, that's exactly what we do.
Join ICology →Built for communicators,
not to profit from them
A lot of communities exist to profit from internal communicators. To sell them something. To monetize their attention or build a business on their backs.
ICology exists for a different reason.
Chuck Gose spent 30 years in this profession. He watched IC practitioners do remarkable work from the shadows, solve problems nobody else could solve, and go home without anyone noticing. He also watched a growing industry build up around internal communications, mostly to take money from it.
So in 2015, he started a podcast because the conversations were too good not to have. And when it became clear that IC professionals needed more than content — they needed each other — ICology became a community.
Not a product. Not a curriculum. A community. Built to give IC professionals the peer group most of them never had, and never asked for money from it beyond what it costs to keep the lights on.
That's still the whole point.
The members make
ICology special
ICology was co-founded with Kristin Hancock, whose fingerprints are all over the community's culture. She has since moved on to her next chapter, doing important work saving animals through Friends of Indy Animals. The spirit she brought to ICology never left.
Today, the community runs on a simple set of agreements. We're not like other networks. We're a cool network. But unlike the mom from Mean Girls, we have some guidelines.
Everyone is excited to meet you. When you add a photo, a mini-bio, and a quick introduction, we can properly welcome you. Plus you'll get a ton more value than if you're an anonymous porcupine.
We're here to encourage you to think bigger and we hope you'll do the same for us. Criticism, cynicism, and judgment is rampant everywhere else. Disagree when you want, but do so with support. Trust us, it's possible.
Step into your vulnerability. Your stories and experiences may be exactly what another member needs to hear today to solve a problem or seize an opportunity. The more you contribute, the more you'll get out of ICology.
We're here to push boundaries and move the profession forward. Every ICology member is both a student and a teacher. Let's reframe challenges together by asking questions and being open to the answers.
We are totally here for your shameless self-promotion but when it veers into a sales pitch, it's time to pump the brakes.
